| Cardigan & Scarf: AE - Maxi: Old Navy (dyed by me) - Wedges: Nicole (DSW) - Belt: PacSun |
So I was all set NOT to participate in Everybody Everywear today. I bought this dress back in '09 at Old Navy and pretty much wore it once. I tripped over it constantly, felt like a hippie, and had buyers remorse over the Barney-esque shade of purple. Even after a last minute thrifting trip, I failed to find a suitable maxi. Including a fail of a skirt (trying for a variation of this & this - ended up looking more like I could be included in this photo) that may be finding it's way back to Goodwill.
Then in a haze of serious sleep deprivation (I have had about 10 hours over the last three days, molars suck) I decided that I should dye this baby at 10pm last night. Genius, right? Except it didn't quite turn out as I expected (I bet you're just as shocked as I am). Following Suze's tips made the process easy and the dress did change color slightly, just not all the way to navy blue as I had hoped.
Never the less, here I am. With some wedges & a belt, I can actually appreciate this dress. I added leggings underneath for some warmth per Liz's suggestion and we have a winner. Or maybe that is the lack of sleep talking since this is the closest thing to a nightgown I could wear in public.
